Results & Analysis

The standard turnaround is 10-14 working days after the sample reaches the lab. Results are sent to your email as soon as the analysis is complete.

Results are sent to your email as a detailed analysis report including all measured parameters and units.

They test for different risks. Bacteria are invisible and tasteless but can cause serious illness. Chemical parameters like iron, manganese and nitrate affect taste, appearance and long-term health. A package that includes both gives you the complete picture.

For common problems (iron, hardness, bacteria), installing a water purification system can be the solution. For more serious issues, we recommend consulting a specialist.

All analyses are carried out by Eurofins Scientific, an accredited laboratory that meets ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Water Quality

The Ministry of Social Affairs recommends testing well water at least once a year. It is also wise to test after heavy rains, spring thaw, well maintenance, or if you notice changes in the taste, smell or colour of the water.

High iron and manganese are usually not a direct health risk, but they affect taste and colour and can damage plumbing and appliances. The solution is typically installing a suitable filter - your analysis results will help you choose the right one.

A microbiological sample must be delivered to the laboratory within 24 hours. A chemical sample lasts longer, but we recommend delivering it at the earliest opportunity. Sample should be kept cool during transport. For this purpose cold bricks have given with the cooling box.

For personal use, a self-collected sample using our sterile kit is sufficient. For official drinking water quality assessments (e.g. property transactions), a certified sampler is required. With our sample taking manual provided with the package, you can get reliable results.

E. coli in drinking water means faecal contamination - a serious health risk. Boil water for drinking and cooking until the problem is resolved. Contact the Health Board and a well specialist to find and eliminate the contamination source.

Tallinn tap water generally meets all requirements. However, in older buildings, plumbing issues can affect water quality. If you suspect a problem, we recommend testing the water from your specific tap.

Common problems in Estonian well water include iron, manganese and hardness. Nitrates occur in agricultural areas. In spring and autumn, the risk of bacterial contamination increases, especially in dug wells.
